The Journal Doctor says: "Don't let this happen to you!"

YouTube Interview: www.youtube.com/user/genogeng#p/u/32/PgBx69F9v_Q

Scientific research has demonstrated that writing in a journal offers real benefits that directly affect your health and well-being. Perhaps this may even come as a shock for you, and it's understandable if you're like many people who simply HATE to write.

There are many reasons for this, and most of them are directly related to the years and years of elementary and high school, and college, where teachers --and later on at work, when bosses marked up your efforts with corrections and comments. No wonder you are still apprehensive about putting anything on the page!

But journal writing is different from that! No one is going to critique anything you write. - Not even YOU! You are going to be in charge of the process, and there is no right way or wrong way to do it. The burden of stress that weighs you down and wears you out is going to lift from your shoulders and you will be amazed at the difference you feel. And your body will also respond with measurable results so you can actually monitor the effects that self-expression has on healing body, mind and spirit.

Many health professionals know about this technique that makes a difference in recovering from emotional and physical trauma, and chronic problems of pain management. It's time now for everyone to know about this Alternative Medicine approach.

In 1955, long before any research was done on the effects of writing, I began to use a journal to help me with the devastating problem I was having with migraine headaches. I did it at the suggestion of the therapist who told me if I didn't write he wouldn't see me. You can read all about this in my book, "Write For Life: Healing Body, Mind and Spirit Through Journal Writing," which is just being published in a Revised Edition by Kaplan Publications. You can also listen to the CD's I've created to help you learn from other professionals the importance of this journal writing program.

What is a Journal?

The journal is a place to reach out and meet yourself as you stretch in all directions. You can alleviate your stress by releasing your emotions in a safe place. You can create a place for yourself in which you can express anything and everything on your mind. Not only is this a good place for you to complain and "whine" all you need to—getting rid of your pent-up feelings is GOOD for you!—you can also get in touch with your intuition and explore ways to handle problems that baffle you. The journal is a resource for healing body, mind, and spirit in a way that supports every activity that engages you, and every predicament that you face. Almost twenty years of scientific research demonstrates that journal writing can help improve your health and lifestyle. It will help you have more fun in life at any age!

The Difference Between Blogging and Journaling

When you write in your journal, you are writing to heal yourself and not for an audience. Blogging is publishing whatever you are writing about and anticipating that someone else will respond with his or her opinion of what you've written. Honesty, not looking good or smart or... (fill in the blank), is the key to healing.
